Virtual School Workshops (Free)

An important part of Toronto Pflag’s mission is conducting education workshops for students, teachers, staff, and parents on topics that include

Gender identity
Sexual orientation
Coming out
Bullying
How to be a good ally

We’re an official partner of the Toronto District School Board and our age-appropriate presentations are approved for students from Grades 2 through 12. Workshops vary in length depending on grade level and include time for questions or discussion after the presentation.

Toronto Pflag workshops are free of charge to schools and associated parent / teacher groups. Please submit your information using this online registration form and a Toronto Pflag representative will be in touch to finalize details.

Our workshops are conducted by a dedicated group of volunteers who are in great demand, especially just before and during Pride month in June, so the more lead time you can provide, the better the chance of booking your preferred date(s).

NOTE: During the pandemic, we moved our operations online. All programs are continuing, with virtual visits! At first we thought this was just the best we could do under the circumstances, but we’ve discovered it actually works even better than our in-person visits, and allows much more flexibility and interaction! We will continue with virtual presentations going forward.

Feedback from Schools

We had our first Toronto Pflag presentation pre-COVID and it was a huge success. Students were lit up with questions afterwards and staff members asked to make sure we repeat the presentation the following year. We just had our first virtual visit from the Toronto Pflag team and it was just as engaging as in
person. I continue to be so impressed with the creativity and thought that goes into the presentations.

Keeping 12 and 13 year olds interested is no easy task. Students always come away with questions, conversations are started and everybody learns, including the teachers. I truly believe what I learn from these presentations makes me a better educator.  I highly recommend booking the team for your school!

Toronto Pflag provides an invaluable service to the community.  They share a message that all students, staff and parents need to hear.  I have had Pflag come in to present at a few schools that I have worked in and it is always well received.  Pflag has been a great ally and I look forward to having them visit with us
again soon.

Toronto Pflag is a wonderful organization that provides students with education around gender, sexuality, and sexual orientation through interactive workshops. They include personal stories and experiences to help students relate to and understand the material being presented.

Our students have benefited greatly from the workshops presented by Toronto Pflag.

Thank you so much for the wonderful presentations to our grades 2-5, last week. Your presentations were informative and an excellent starting point for many of our students.  Thank you for your passion and for sharing your knowledge with us.
